Remote Control

After a meteor shower, a glowing seed lands near a shea tree in northern Ghana and gives a girl named Fatima a deadly power: anything she touches dies. After a tragedy forces her from her home she becomes Sankofa, who wanders from village to village on foot with a fox as her only companion, and who is known as the adopted daughter of Death. A near-future novella by Nnedi Okorafor.
